Welcome to our Fall Newsletter |
Our
“kids” are growing up!.
Many
thanks to all out sponsors for their contributions which made it possible
for another successful two weeks of camp.
This year two of our Epona youth (Kiki and Vanessa) helped out part-time
as counselors-in-training.
Our thanks to them for their contribution.
This was also Atiba’s (one of our original Epona riders)
first year as our third van driver.
As the van requires a 4B classification, Atiba earned his license
and helped out with the daily driving.
We have now invited Atiba to be part of the executive Committee of
the Epona foundation, we are thrilled to have his valuable and experienced
input.
Message From The Director
Each
fall brings the return to school and the start of another Epona season.
This year we started later with our first session beginning on
October 9.
Our
thinking is to experiment with a March break camp and one week of summer
camp.
With
the return to school, our school liaison coordinator will be contacting
the schools and developing the tutoring needs of our youth
EPONA IS MORE THAN JUST RIDING
This
year sees two of our most recent High School graduates, Kiki and Jordan,
as recipients of the Phyllis Baille Award as they headed off to Cegep.
Kiki is now attending Vainer College and will continue with the
equestrian program as a role model and mentor.
Jordan is attending the Police Tech. program at John Abbott
College, he continues to work with the Epona youth as a mentor.
Two
other former riders, Justin and Kenry were also involved in working with Epona
youth in a separate program.
We
are proud to see the continued involvement of our graduates as mentors of
Epona Youth.
I
wish to take this opportunity to thank all our sponsors, parents, and
volunteers for making this foundation possible.

I would like to take this opportunity to recognize Mr. Gabe Mapp's
contribution to the Epona Foundation.
In 2004 Mr. Mapp graciously accepted my "call for help" when we
needed an extra driver and animator with the kids at the stables.
At first it was a seasonal commitment for about 10 Saturdays. Gabe
continued his commitment for the rest of the year.
He's maintained that commitment 30 Saturdays a year, 10 hours each
Saturday for the last 6 years!
Gabe, would commit each Saturday to picking up the 14 youth and then
driving them up to the ranch. This would involve a 4-5 hours in driving
each Saturday.
While at the ranch, Gabe would support the youth in their equestrian
routines, homework and other skill building activities. Spending an
average of 5 hours every Saturday at the ranch.
Gabe is an integral part of our program and I know that Epona could not
continue without his contribution.
Epona wishes to thank Gabriel Mapp for his unwavering support and vision
in the development and growth of the Epona Integrated Riding Foundation.
We would also like to welcome Atiba Howell to the
Executive Committee.

Donations to The
Epona Foundation |
To our
friends of Epona,
Many
of our supporters have found donating through Canadahelps.org
to be quick, reliable and secure.
Please
take a moment to make that donation and support a program you know to be
invested in our youth of today. On behalf of our
youth, families and volunteers we thank you for making this program
possible.
